HKA is working on behalf of Jacobs and this role is to support Jacobs’ work through HKA.

Level 1 Water Certification position is considered Operator in Training, pay is $19.60/hr.- $22.50/hr.
Level 2 Water Certification position is considered Operator, pay is $21.10/hr.- $25.50/hr.
Level 3 Water Certification position is considered Operator I, pay is $22.60/hr.- $28.50/hr.

General Statement

Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment and distribution system on an assigned shift.  This position typically holds or is working on first level water treatment certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates, maintains, and performs minor repairs on water treat­ment and/or distribution system
  • Installs operates and repairs water distribution and collection systems including mains, service lines, fire hydrants, water valves, PRV’s and water meters
  • Reads and monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
  • Starts and stops equipment, and operates valves to route and control flow
  • Learns and gains skills involving the maintenance of equipment and servicing work in the plant
  • Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water treatment and distribution system
  • Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
  • Observes and reports abnormalities to supervisor
  • Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings
  • Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses
  • Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
  • Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures
  • Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner
  • Understands and carries out oral and written directions
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
  • Performs other duties as required

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification at a level required by the State in which the project is located
  • One year of experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operations of engines, pumps, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; basic biological and chemical principles
