Job Description:

Work assigned shifts during a 24-hour period, shifts include 6-hours shifts up to 12-hour shifts.

Work Holidays, weekends and nights.

Ability to rotate between day and night shifts.

Work independently and the ability to be on-call.

Ability to be available for overtime and respond to emergency situations.

The Operator II performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant including maintenance of equipment, water quality control testing, cleaning and day-to-day activities on an assigned shift.

Diagnoses operating problems; directs and performs necessary corrective actions.

Reads gauges and meters, starts and stops equipment.

Makes process control adjustments.

Determines and sets proper chemical dosages and flow rates.

Operates PLCs and SCADA systems.

Complies with compliance and non-compliance with the projects policies and procedures.

Prepares required reports and maintains complete record keeping procedures.

Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses on plant processes.

Makes entries in plant logs.

Makes operating decisions in the absence of supervisory personnel.

Maintains discipline and ensures proper procedures are followed.

Provides accurate instructions and assignments to other plant operators.

Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during work.

Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED.

Grade T3 State Water Resources Control Board Operator Certification. Possess a valid CA driver’s license.

Shift operator experience of a surface water treatment plant.

Basic familiarity of the principles and practices of water treatment plant operations.

Operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors.

Principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical analyses.

Effects and problems of water treatment processes. S

afe work practices.

Familiarity with PLC’s and SCADA systems.

Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and data management systems.

Commute no more than 60 minutes from the treatment facility.
