Job Description
HKA is working on behalf of Jacobs and this role is to support Jacobs’ work through HKA.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate, inspect, and assist with construction of new and repair and replacement of existing water distribution, sewer collection, and water and wastewater treatment system components in accordance with approved construction and engineering specifications, policies, and practices
- Serve as a primary field contact between the construction manager and general contractors for water and wastewater utilities
- Utilize expertise in construction inspection to ensure that materials, workmanship, documentation, and practices meet project specifications and requirements
- Maintain presence at construction sites to observe rate of progress, workmanship, use of approved materials, accepted construction practices and methods, and of safety protocols
- Maintain daily record of activities, progress, and issues; oversee construction record-keeping activities, and report information orally and in writing, as required
- Recommend improvements to construction execution to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and safety
- Participate in construction and status and progress meetings; communicate project information orally or in writing as required
- Help investigate, document, and report existing site conditions to facilitate project execution
- Resolve technical issues in the field or escalate for resolution
- Recommend acceptance of work products and pay applications
Job Requirements
Education and Experience - REQUIRED
- Education Level - High School or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience inspecting construction work
- Knowledge in construction methods and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Knowledge in construction and inspection practices, techniques, testing procedures, and methods and requirements
- Knowledge of contractor quality assurance program requirements
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations and labor laws
- Trained in fall protection, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 10-hour OSHA construction safety training
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information, orally and in writing, in a professional manner to contractors, developers, property owners, employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives
- Solid knowledge and use of computers including Microsoft applications
- Good physical condition to permit working out-of-doors under varying weather conditions
- Valid California driver’s license
Education and Experience – PREFERRED
- Experience with municipal water and wastewater systems construction or operation
