Wastewater Operator-in-Training
Job Description
Reports To: Lead Operator / Operations Manager / Project Manager
Pay: $20.00- $26.00 per hour DOE
Position Summary
Performs operational and maintenance tasks at an advanced wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift. This position is intended for individuals holding or working toward a first-level wastewater certification.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor wastewater treatment processes, including pumps, valves, engines, and generators
Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels
Collect samples and perform routine lab tests
Maintain logs and operational records
Perform routine equipment maintenance and general plant housekeeping
Follow safety procedures and report abnormalities
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of pumps, engines, and mechanical equipment
Basic understanding of biological and chemical processes
Familiarity with safe work practices
Working Conditions
Work is performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to noise, machinery, chemicals, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs, bend, kneel, and wear required safety equipment.
