HKA is working on behalf of Jacobs, and this role is to support Jacobs’ work through HKA

Pay $18 per hour

Qualifications:

a valid Driver’s license

Responsibilities:

Inspect, repair, and maintain public streets and rights-of-way, including street signs, pavement markings, trees, and community relation projects. Produce a variety of records and reports relating to these activities. Perform required labor involved in the construction and maintenance of pavement cutting, crack sealing, base repair, sidewalks, curb, gutter, and wheelchair ramps repair, tree removal, and snow removal.

Operate, maintain and perform minor repair to light and heavy equipment (backhoe, loader, chainsaws, welders, etc.). Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools before and after use. Report defects or needed repairs to lead worker or supervisor.

Respond to various customer service requests and report findings to lead worker or supervisor. Maintain good public relations through courteous and prompt attention to customer complaints.

Develop and maintain cooperative and respectful work relationships with co-workers and supervisor.

Use utility locator service prior to any excavation.

Follow all safety rules and procedures. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Complete daily work activities according to work schedules. Measure, compute, and convert English and metric systems.

May assist other Public Works departments as needed. Maintain proficiency by attending meetings and trainings, reviewing reports, and reading professional materials and journals.

Report public hazards (potholes, fallen street signs, water leaks, etc.) to lead worker or supervisor.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Many duties are physically demanding requiring the movement of materials weighing 50 pounds, up to 90 pounds with assistance. Movement of materials weighing 25 to 50 pounds may consume up to 30% of the work period. Duties require regular operation of light, medium and heavy equipment, use of hand tools, (jackhammer, chainsaw, weed eaters, shovels, etc. Activity and types of duties performed require manual coordination and dexterity.

The majority of duties take place outside with exposure to all types of weather conditions and terrain on a year-round basis. May be exposed to confined spaces and hazardous material including noise, fumes, chemicals, etc
