Senior Logistics Director of Operations Overview
As the Senior Logistics Director of Operations, you are expected to provide operational oversight and act as your region’s subject matter expert by leading Regional Directors in their daily operations; ensuring they are effectively coaching and developing the Field Management team to drive company and client standards and to meet or exceed goals, including financial targets. In this role you will develop and maintain professional relationships with the client’s operational management teams and drive superior levels of service as expected by the company’s customers.
Responsibilities
(include, but are not limited to)
• Oversee multiple operations with an emphasis on achieving service and financial objectives
• Manage the divisional budget
• Monitor daily and weekly reports to ensure financial objectives are being achieved and deficiencies are identified and addressed
• Gather, analyze, and interpret data and metrics to ensure all operations have ample IC’s to meet monthly forecasting
• Ensure all operations have adequate levels of trained personnel to operate successfully Monitor contractor earnings and lead programs that limit the exposure of contractor debt
• Drive for results that meet or exceed the Client & Client service and KPI standards
• Grow and foster strong client relationships with internal and external partners
• Conduct frequent visits within the division, no less than once monthly (extensive travel required)
• In coordination with the SVP, develop and lead innovative programs to train, evaluate & coach staff in the successful operation of their locations
• Partner with Regional Directors to monitor ride behinds and site audits for the evaluation of area and location staff and independent contractors to determine skill levels to identify and lead coaching opportunities
• Supervisory responsibilities to the Regional Director of Operations (direct), Regional Operations Coordinator (direct), Market Managers (indirect) and Assistant Market Managers (indirect)
• Assist with new start-ups to ensure they are rolled out in a manner that creates long term success
• Conduct business in a manner which will enhance the reputation of Client, our contractors & customers
• Ensure all operations are consistently in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Client requirements
Job Requirements
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years of relevant experience, or 6-10 years equivalent combination of education and experience
• Up to 80% travel and 24/7 availability depending on performance of division
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook
• Knowledge of DOT regulation
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Experience creating and analyzing statistical and financial reporting
• In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principals (ex. finance, customer service and employee management)
• Ability to make independent judgments which have considerable impact on the organization
• Proven ability to problem solve, and create innovative solutions
• Balance customer satisfaction with cost effectiveness
• Multi-task and provide thorough follow-up and detailed action plans
• Create and execute detailed plans alongside the SVP
