Senior Transmission Protection & Control Engineer
Job Description
Pay: $87.00- $97.00 per hour DOE
A leading utility organization is seeking a Senior Protection & Control Engineer with deep transmission experience to support relay settings development, coordination studies, compliance, and capital project work.
This role is ideal for a Protection SME with strong utility experience and advanced knowledge of transmission protection schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain protective relay settings (Transmission Line, Transformer, Bus, Breaker Failure, Capacitor, etc.)
Perform short circuit modeling and coordination analysis
Support transmission capital projects and provide QA/QC of OLRs and protection settings
Troubleshoot protection systems and respond to internal engineering requests
Maintain relay settings templates and documentation
Ensure compliance with applicable NERC standards
Required Qualifications
15+ years of utility protection engineering experience (Transmission preferred)
Experience with: Aspen OneLiner, Aspen Relay Database, CymTCC, SEL-5010, SEL-5030
Experience performing short circuit modeling for coordination and setpoint development
Experience selecting CT ratios for protection applications
Strong understanding of microprocessor-based relays and protection schemes
Working knowledge of NERC standards including: PRC-006, PRC-023, PRC-025, PRC-026, PRC-027, CIP-010, CIP-002, FAC-008
