The Senior QC Inspector is responsible for inspecting and recording dimensions of a wide variety of aerospace components and finished products through the utilization of micrometers, calipers, bore gages, thread gages, and other inspection equipment as required, with particular focus and involvement in the area of In-Process inspection of items on the production floor.

 Position Expectations:

Responsible for all aspects of Quality during the part inspection process, with key focus on in-process inspection during production and support stages; machining, fabrication, welding, assembly and paint.

Utilize necessary fixtures, gauges, indicators, equipment and related software to check parts for compliance with specifications, within prescribed tolerances for machined parts and other manufactured components.

Complete inspection procedures including checking dimensions of related surfaces and holes, including the assessment of finishes as well as the detection of any undesirable nonconformances and the recommendation for disposition of items that don’t meet required standards.

Perform dimensional checks of parts while in the machine when necessary and rejects unacceptable items, documents nonconformance, and moves the part to the quality clinic.

Responsible for the review and acceptance of all traveler documents to confirm that all signoffs and revisions follow current operating procedures in addition to verifying that internal operation sheets align with customer blueprints.

Create FAI packages in conjunction with the inspection process as needed.

Diagnose, decipher, triage and track to closure all engineering issues discovered during in-process inspection, including blueprint changes, model-based definition updates and operation sheet revisions.

Perform inspection of components & assemblies as part of receiving inspection and act as liaison regarding supplier’s non-conformance, supplier’s quality performance, trends and corrective actions.

Involved in scheduling & preparing AS9102 FAIR’s and Source Inspection requirements.

Actively involved in the NCR and DMR process and facilitates MRB activities as required.

Enter data into the ERP system to ensure ongoing data integrity.

Responsible for Export Compliance related items as may be required and assists with maintaining compliance for EH&S, OSHA, DEEP and other state and federal regulatory requirements. 

Other duties as may be required.

Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • 7+ years recent inspection experience including standard inspection and data forms; 5+ years in an Aerospace environment
  • Experience reading/understanding mechanical & electrical drawings, including BOMs, wiring lists, Op Sheets, Engine Manuals & Customer Purchase Order Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with 1st piece, in process, receiving and final inspection
  • Experience with mics, calipers, height gages, gage blocks & pins, VOM meter gauges, indicators, comparators and other standard electrical and mechanical measuring equipment.
  • Must be able to read and understand military specifications and industry standards and read and interpret Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Effectively communicate and interact with all levels of management and willingness to work directly with production floor staff
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Corrective Action tools and meticulous with high attention to detail, follow through and organizational skills
  • Must have visual acuity enough to be able to read machine dials, gages, Op sheets, and precision measuring equipment
  • Strong computer proficiency; Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook and ERP

 Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of J-STD-001, ISO 9001/AS 9100, ISO17025 & ASQR-01
  • Knowledge or weldments i.e. D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6, D17.1
  • CMM – PCDMIS experience, certification a plus
  • DQR status
  • Internal auditing experience
