Sanitation workers need physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various conditions. They also need to be able to lift heavy objects and dispose of waste safely.
Requirements:
Must be 18 or older.
Driver’s License or FL State ID is required.
Must pass the background & drug screening.
Must wear steel toe or composite shoes/boots.
Ability to lift 50lbs or more continuously during route.
Able to work in inclement weather.
Ability to carry, reach, bend, push, pull, and climb during route.
Ability to work collaboratively with the team.
Ability to understand and abide by occupational health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
Essential duties and Responsibilities - Works on an assigned sanitation route as a member of collection crew; picks up garbage and trash and loads materials into collection truck. Assists with performing preventive maintenance checks and services on vehicles and equipment daily. Performs other duties as required.
Summary - Collects trash and garbage from city residents and commercial establishments onto a collection vehicle using discretion when entering private property on an assigned shift.
Working conditions & physical requirements:
Position is outdoors the entire shift. Will be exposed to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined space, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to maintain equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction.
