Description:
Quality Engineer will support Space and Defense Programs, interface with the factory teams supporting production, first article inspections, creating/maintaining work/inspection instructions, and preparation for audits. The position requires onsite presence with possible overtime and weekend work on occasions. The quality engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure cross-functional engineering and product teams are aware of and adhere to applicable program requirements defined in the Contract Quality Requirements (CQR)
- Review program documentation, including specifications, requirements, specification control drawings, altered item drawings, assembly drawings, test plans, procedures, instructions and standard operating procedures prior to release for correctness to technical standards
- Ability to implement objectives and procedures for initial development projects (APQP) as well as implement corporate level quality initiatives and procedures (PPAP and ZDP “Zero Defect Plan”)
- Has electronics/mechanical background knowledge
- Ensure correct flow through of all Quality requirements both internally and externally
- Conduct product and process assessments, lead root cause and corrective action activities
- Prepare, collect, analyze and maintain metrics; participate as an active member of the program Corrective Action Board (CAB)
- Maintain excellent customer relationships; process and validate customer corrective action requests
- Conduct timely identification, segregation, disposition, correction and closure of nonconforming material, including Material Review Board (MRB) activities as authorized by program quality planning
- Act on all material, product and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability using the nonconformance and/or purge process; assess impact of potential customer escapes
- Plan for and/or perform First Article Inspection (FAI); participate in Audits
- Oversee processing of customer returned material and control of deficiency report documents from receipt to delivery of corrected product.
- Support program, corporate and third party audits and assessments
- Engage with Engineering and Operations in transition to production activities, including Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify potential product and process risks and mitigation actions.
- Review deliverable Acceptance and Test Data Packages (ADP/TDP) to assure they are correct and complete as defined by the contract before submitting to customer acceptance.
Job Requirements
MINIMUM Requirements:
- 4 TO 7 YEARS EXPERIENCE related Quality Engineering or relevant experience
- Ability to technically interface with various engineering disciplines and customers
- Ability to hold constructive meetings, document actions and follow-up on Action Assignment/Completions
- Excellent verbal / written communications and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively engage customers, team members, suppliers, and management
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate cross functional process improvement teams Proficient in MS Office computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SAP.
- experience with AS9100 Quality Management Systems
- Proficient in the use of Pareto Analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
- Knowledge and support of Space and Defense programs and systems technologies, regulations and standards
- High energy, self-starting team player who achieves results.
- BS Degree and this position on site.
