Pressure Vessel Project Manager

Job Description

The client is looking for a self-assured, reliable Project Manager with a proven track record of successfully managing complex fabrication and construction projects to profitability, with a strong emphasis on cost control, projections and schedule. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the daily management, coordination, and oversight of fabrication and construction projects, including successful project planning, execution, and closure. The PM plans and directs all fabrication and construction activities and administrative processes in order to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget. The PM successfully achieves objectives by working closely with our estimating, purchasing, operations, quality control teams and all sub-contracted services.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PROJECT MANAGER AT TECH FAB:
You’re the main point of contact for the project team as well as the client. Part of your responsibilities as a Project Manager is to review client-provided documents (Spec's/Purchase Orders/Technical Clarifications/Etc.) and manage project sub-contracts and subcontractors. Your duties include building and staying within the budget, creating and managing the project schedule, and communicating the client’s requirements for all projects to the team and subcontractors. You will oversee the entire scope of work throughout the project duration to ensure a successful outcome.
Project Manager Responsibilities:
• Oversees multiple projects from pre-fabrication through project close-out.
• Works on projects as small as $50,000 and as large as $50,000,000. Most commonly for vessels, pipe, tanks, structural and mechanical construction.
• Develop and maintain positive client relations.
• Collaborate with engineers, Quality Control and other workers on the same project.
• Interpret documents, data and blueprints to create detailed schedules.
• Revise the project schedule as changes are made (Change Order / Scope Management)
• Determining the necessary resources (time, cost, labor, materials) for each project.
• Negotiating the best contracts to ensure maximum profitability.
• Prepare and report project progress, budget and cost estimates, along with work timetables.
• Performing detailed analyses and drawing up reports for relevant stakeholders.
• Attend production meetings to remain informed of project-specific issues. Provide guidance and supervision as required.
• Assessing the progress and performance of all workers involved.
• Ensuring compliance with all manufacturing codes, safety, and regulations.
• Responsible for any delays, emergencies and problems that can arise.
• Explain contract and technical matters to others in a clear manner.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in management, engineering, or similar.
• 5+ years’ experience working for a manufacturer as a Project Manager.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and other materials typically issued during a bid, specifically for structural, vessels and piping.
• Strong knowledge of industrial construction (primarily downstream refining, chemical, and petrochemical market) structural, vessels, piping, valves and instrumentation means and methods.
• Strong understanding of the following standards:
o ASME Section 8 Div. I and Division 2
o ASME B31.1, B31.2, B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8
o Nice to have: AISC Structural Code and AWS
o Knowledge of Compress (ASME Code) software
• Strong knowledge of downstream production equipment.
• Basic knowledge of upstream and midstream equipment.
• Good time management as this position will work on multiple projects at one time, pending the size of the project.
• Must have strong computer and software skills and be fluent in the following Microsoft software: Word, Excel, Teams, Share Point, Microsoft Project, Outlook etc.
• Must be very fluent in MS Excel and MS Project, with expert knowledge in both of their functionality.
• Advanced understanding of processes, principles, materials, and tools.
• Ability to read, understand and possess a profound knowledge of Project Budgets, Project Schedules, change orders, drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent leadership abilities.
• Great time management, organization, and communication skills.
• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Must be team-oriented.
• Self-driven/self-starter.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Must be physically located in Houston, TX.
