Job Description

*This is a Power Distribution Designer position

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution in the creation of construction designs related to the client's distribution systems
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, completion, and monitoring of work activities,
  • Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical designs, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches,
  • Conducts engineering and related studies as dictated by the design criteria,
  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance,
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities,
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills,
  • Maintains accurate records and files,
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

Typical design projects include - but are not limited to:

  • Overhead (OH) conversions to underground (UG)
  • Primary and secondary UG cable replacements
  • OH reconductoring, storm hardening
  • Self-optimized grid (self-healing networks)
  • Capacitor and reclosure placements and replacements
  • New circuit additions
  • Substation circuit exits
  • Voltage conversions
  • Lighting design
  • Circuit ties
  • GIS mapping
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) conflict relocations
  • Deteriorated conductor replacement
  • Circuit studies
  • Rotten/deteriorated pole replacement program
  • Right of way acquisition
