Job Description
Capital Project Manager
- Work in a business partner relationship with operations to lead and manage a portfolio of high-impact, high-criticality capital projects supporting the update and expansion of pharmaceutical and utility operations at client's largest US-Based Active Pharmaceutical
- Ingredient (API) and Drug Product manufacturing facility. Ability to effectively balance a portfolio of up to 40 projects ranging from $500,000 to $40-million. This role primary supports the Kalamazoo, Michigan manufacturing site.
- Effectively interact with leadership and partner with Operations to establish priorities and define requirements for the portfolio of projects within the assigned area.
- Ensure our capital investments use the best technology, have the best outcomes for our business, and align with contemporary standards (cGMPs, OSHA, NFPA, etc). Support process safety reviews and implement measures as indicated.
- Assist project stakeholders with the preparation and submittal of Capital Project
- Appropriation requests (CPAs). CPAs to include project descriptions, justifications, scope definitions, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, analysis of alternatives and other required information.
- Maintain a working familiarity with current industry best practices and equipment suppliers for pharmaceutical manufacturing and utility generation/distribution.
- Provide or arrange for development of complete design documentation for assigned projects.
- Select, manage and coordinate the efforts of design consultants and firms as appropriate.
- Develop "Request for Proposal" documents for design services, construction services and major equipment items.
- Administer, resolve, and control all design, construction, contractual and financial aspects of the project.
- Ensure that all applicable client requirements are followed, and that all local, state and federal regulatory requirements are met on assigned projects.
- Maintain technical skills in the latest techniques for project management and processing technology as applied to facilities and equipment design, construction and plant operation.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering or Related Discipline from a fully accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 9 years of engineering and/or project management experience.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations.
- Experienced in a pharmaceutical / FDA-regulated manufacturing environment, or other similarly regulated industries (e.g. nuclear, chemical, petrochemical). A solid working knowledge of cGMP and facility/equipment validation requirements.

- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain highly effective teams.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Certificates, Licenses or Registrations: PMP Certification by PMI
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform complex data analysis and develop/manage detailed implementation plans.
- Ability to track performance against approved plans and react appropriately to unexpected outcomes.
- Ability to present plans and status updates to leadership and a broad range of stakeholders across the organization
