Nuclear Technical Specialist
Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Technical Specialist to provide design and field implementation support for plant modification projects within a commercial nuclear generating station.
This role serves as the technical Single Point of Contact (SPOC) during design, planning, and field execution — ensuring modifications are implemented safely, in compliance with procedures, and within schedule.
This is a highly field-focused role (80–90% field presence during execution).
Pay: $63.00- $73.00 per hour DOE
Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning Support
Perform system walkdowns (SSC’s) with Engineering, Planning, and Implementation teams
Review drawings, work orders, TNs, TTs, IPs, MPs, and PTs for constructability and safety
Ensure QC inspection points and procedural requirements are correctly embedded in work packages
Assist in development and revision of Temporary Installation Procedures (TNs)
Field Execution Oversight
Provide on-site technical oversight during implementation
Lead craft review meetings to ensure drawing and procedure clarity
Ensure field work aligns with approved engineering design and work orders
Support resolution of field issues requiring Engineering Change (EC) revisions
Coordinate re-planning efforts when scope or constructability changes occur
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to nuclear work control and change management processes
Support evaluation of field work continuation risks
Maintain strong coordination with Engineering, QC, Planning, and Implementation Management
Required Qualifications
Commercial nuclear power plant experience
Experience supporting design and field implementation of plant modifications
Strong knowledge of nuclear work control and engineering change processes
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and procedures
Experience working closely with craft and multi-discipline teams
Willingness to spend majority of time in the field during execution
