Mechanic in Training – Water/Wastewater Treatment
Job Description
Location: Dodge City area
Pay:Up to $21.00 per hour DOE
Summary
Entry-level opportunity to train in maintenance and repair of water and wastewater treatment facility equipment. This role involves hands-on mechanical work, preventive maintenance, confined space entry, and emergency call-out rotation. Must be comfortable performing physical labor in all weather conditions.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license
Must live within 30 minutes of Dodge City
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to work in confined spaces and around raw sewage (with PPE)
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to work rotating 24-hour on-call schedule (including nights, weekends, holidays)
Dependable safety and attendance record
Preferred Experience
Experience maintaining motors (10 HP+), pumps, and valves
Basic electrical knowledge and ability to read schematics/diagrams
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Experience performing preventative maintenance
Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled maintenance on plant equipment, pumps, motors, and piping
Assist with mechanical and electrical repairs
Troubleshoot equipment failures and complete work orders
Operate tools and maintenance equipment safely
Work in confined spaces and assist with emergency repairs
Participate in rotating after-hours call duty
Work Environment
Outdoor work in all weather conditions
Confined spaces and wet/uneven surfaces
Exposure to wastewater (PPE provided)
Heavy manual labor required
