Qualifications:
WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT MECHANIC - MUNICIPAL UTILITY CLIENT
Work Environment:
The work environment for a candidate in this position would be in the field or onsite completing preventative maintenance and repairs needed in a water/wastewater treatment facility and offsite at the various lift stations we operate and maintain. Some computer work required to generate work orders for planned work (preventive maintenance) and complete work orders for assigned/auto generated work (reactive maintenance).
Key Skills:
1. Experience with water pumps and electrical motors
2. Electrical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment with voltmeter
3. Preventative and corrective maintenance experience
4. Ability to read schematics/prints for installation and troubleshooting equipment
5. Experience in Wastewater and/or Water treatment for a Municipal Utility client
Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• Possess a valid driver’s license as driving is a requirement of this position
• Two years experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment relating to the treatment of water/wastewater facilities and lift stations
• A valid Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification or ability to obtain within 3 years of date of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
• Some trade school education with an emphasis on electrical and mechanical equipment and metal fabrication
• Experience in the maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and related equipment in a municipal facility/environment or similar maintenance experience
• Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment related to water/wastewater
treatment plant operations and procedures
• Ability to enter data into a computer maintenance management system
• Experience in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Forklift experience
• Experience in serving municipal utility client
• Safe work practices
Responsibilities:
WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT MECHANIC
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and equipment used for a water/wastewater treatment facility and for lift stations
• Lubricates equipment and checks for malfunctions; replaces packing in pumps or valves; replaces bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tunes engines, sets valve clearance, cleans,
and adjusts regulators
• Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences
• Installs and sets up new equipment
• Cleans out pipes and performs other plumbing and pipe fitting tasks as required
• Uses gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld
• Performs duties of electrician or painter in their absence
• Assists in keeping maintenance records
• Communicates effectively at all levels regarding recommended maintenance and repair procedures
• Follows written and oral instructions
• Performs other duties as required
