Lead Mechanic
Job Description
Overview
Experienced technician responsible for maintenance and repair of wastewater collection systems, lift stations, and related equipment. This role includes field troubleshooting, team leadership, and emergency response.
Pay: $26.00- $31.00 per hour DOE
Qualifications
- Florida Wastewater Collection “C” Certification and Class “B” CDL (tanker & air brake) required (or within 6 months)
- 5+ years of experience in wastewater equipment, lift stations, and mechanical maintenance
- Backflow certification required
- Ability to read electrical, SCADA, and utility schematics
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, CMMS, SCADA, GIS)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain pumps, motors, generators, valves, and telemetry systems
- Troubleshoot equipment and evaluate system performance
- Interpret maps, diagrams, and system data to improve operations
- Lead and assign daily tasks to a team of mechanics
- Perform utility locates and inspections as needed
- Respond to after-hours emergencies and work extended hours during storms/disasters
- Follow safety procedures and provide excellent customer service
