Job Description
Lab Analyst – Water & Wastewater
Pay: $25.00- $28.00 per hour DOE
Location: Southbridge, MA
Schedule: Includes on-call, weekend rotation, and occasional holidays
Overview
We are seeking a Lab Analyst to join a collaborative team supporting municipal water and wastewater operations. This role is critical to ensuring safe, compliant, and uninterrupted service through accurate sampling, testing, and analysis of water and wastewater systems.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a laboratory environment while supporting regulatory and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform sampling, testing, and analysis of water and wastewater systems
Conduct chemical, biochemical, and bacteriological tests using laboratory equipment
Test plant influent, effluent, receiving waters, and raw sludge samples
Analyze parameters including pH, alkalinity, volatile solids, total solids, dissolved oxygen, coliform bacteria, and residual chlorine
Maintain quality assurance programs in accordance with established guidelines
Perform calculations and prepare accurate records and reports
Operate, maintain, and care for laboratory equipment and materials
Support operation and maintenance of the industrial pretreatment program
Follow safe work practices to ensure the health and well-being of the team
Participate in on-call, weekend rotation, and occasional holiday coverage
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Massachusetts Wastewater Operator License or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
At least 1 year of laboratory testing experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems
Valid state driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Wastewater Operator Certification
Knowledge of chemistry, biology, and laboratory testing procedures
Experience with chemical, biochemical, and bacteriological testing
Knowledge of biological and chemical sewage testing methods
Understanding of industrial waste impacts on water/wastewater treatment processes
Strong commitment to laboratory safety and safe work practices
