Functional Title: Lab Specialist - Calibration
Client Title: Lab Specialist - Calibration
PAY: DOE
1st Shift: 40 hours per week
Shift: 8 AM until 5 PM – Monday-Friday
Contract: Long-term contract role - ongoing
The position is an ongoing W2 contract. There is no end date projected.
The position would be working for HKA at the client's site.
HKA offers employee paid medical and 401k on the 1st of the month after your 1st day.

Job Requirements

Job Title: Calibration Lab Specialist
Position Purpose/Scope:   
Provides technical and specialized guidance to the Plant Spartanburg production areas on materials and quality topics through testing, calibration, and measurement activities. 

Position Responsibilities:
Supports the Group process for Test Equipment Management (AA 4.4.3/1).
Monitors Service Provider KPIs, including turn-around time, equipment status, form approval status, and IPMA inputs.
Monitors IndySoft for Service Provider ticket quality and participates in monthly invoice reviews.
Supports Service Provider and the team with scheduling and planning of calibration activities.
Provides direction to the Service Provider on-site team as needed.
Supports with training as needed and identifies areas for improvement.
Escalates overdue equipment and forms as needed.
Supports the Service Provider and the Test Equipment Planners with Capability Studies as needed (GS 98000).
Acts as Test Equipment Coordinator proxy for Plant 10 (IPMA).
Writes reports and solves related problems from internal and external customers.
Prepares samples of parts to be tested.
Uses microscopes (stereoscope, scanning electron microscope, x-ray, and other microscopes) to perform failure analysis and/or defect detection.
Supports process materials and non-metals testing.
Supports Plant-wide PMP (Problem-Management Process), 8D, and CST (Cross-System Teams).
Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Position Competencies:
Education:
Associate degree in a technical discipline or 2 years of equivalent work experience in Automotive Quality, Calibration, and/or Laboratory Analysis.

Experience:             
2+ years of related experience in materials testing, data analysis, problem-solving, and technical report writing.
2+ years of experience reading technical drawings and test procedures (i.e., ASTM and DIN) (preferred).
2+ years’ experience overseeing Service Contracts or similar teams

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic = less than 1 year of experience/training needed; Intermediate = 1 – 3 years of experience/some training may be needed; Advanced = 3-5 years’ experience/no training needed; Expert = 5+ years’ experience/able to train others.
2+ years of experience creating documentation, writing reports, and developing presentations.
2+ years of knowledge of automotive production, such as sample preparation for failure analysis
2+ years of experience demonstrating computer skills including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
2+ years of experience performing or evaluating Capability Studies and Master Service Agreements (preferred)
2+ years of experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 requirements for calibration (preferred)
