Job Description

• Troubleshoot problems with and assist in conducting repairs of all Process Logistic Controllers (PLC) and PLC programs

• Troubleshoot problems with and assist in conducting repairs of Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs and devices which host the programs

• Troubleshoot problems with and assist in conducting repairs to network radios and all related appurtenances to include modifications and updates to network radios

• Assist with review of plans and drawings of new and existing systems

• Conduct preventative maintenance tasks generated by the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

• Assist in generating department-specific Standard Operating Procedures and Job Safety Analyses

• May be required to assist and support other departments in the event of an emergency

• May be required to provide immediate oversight of any contractors working on I&C systems or whose work may impact I&C infrastructure

• Assist others with any site-specific data and information relevant to the construction or repair of all facilities

• Become familiar with all Water Production and Wastewater Systems and processes

• Work safely and adhere to established safety procedures

• Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested

• Ability to carry and respond to pages, as requested

• Performs other duties as assigned 

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED

• Possess a valid driver’s license – State of New Mexico

• A minimum of three years’ technical experience, including dealing with the maintenance, repair and calibration of electrical control systems

• Basic computer skills

• Prior experience as an I&C Technician in a Water and/or Wastewater facility



• New Mexico Level II or above certification in Water and/or Wastewater

• Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and instruments used in the maintenance, repair and calibration of electrical and electronic control systems

• Familiarity with the principles and practices of an effective control system preventative maintenance program

• Knowledge of standard safety principles and related state and federal laws and regulations, and willingness to apply and adhere to such state and federal laws and regulations

• Understanding of low voltage control systems and the ability to conduct repairs as permitted by the State of New Mexico statutes governing electrical work

• Able to interpret plans and drawing of all constructed systems
