IT Infrastructure Specialist
Location: Greenville, South Carolina — Onsite
Shift: A Shift | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay: $55.00–$75.00 per hour, depending on experience
Contract: Long-term, ongoing contract with no anticipated end date
Benefits: PTO, Sick Pay & Holiday Pay
Job Requirements
We are seeking a candidate with strong experience in fiber optic and copper cabling installation, testing, quality assurance, and infrastructure planning, along with experience managing IT infrastructure construction projects and a solid understanding of data center operations.
This position requires a combination of passive infrastructure expertise and data center operations experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable overseeing infrastructure-related projects while also supporting the day-to-day operational needs of a data center environment.
Build, Support & Lead Critical IT Infrastructure
We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Specialist to join a large, fast-paced technology environment in Greenville, SC. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how data centers operate, can troubleshoot infrastructure problems, and has the experience to oversee outside vendors and infrastructure projects.
What You'll Really Be Doing
Think of this role as the person who makes sure the technology behind a large operation stays connected, organized, secure, and working properly. You will spend most of your day helping run the data center, checking that equipment and systems are working, troubleshooting problems, and making sure vendors complete their work correctly. You will also work with servers, storage, networking, cabling, power systems, and other IT equipment. When a major problem happens, you will help figure out what went wrong, work with the right people to fix it, and help get everything back up and running.
You will also help plan and manage infrastructure projects, keep documentation up to date, make sure work follows required standards, and identify potential problems before they become major issues.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Data Center Operations
- 5+ years of experience with IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, or enterprise IT systems
- 3+ years of IT project management experience
- 3+ years of experience providing leadership or oversight on IT projects
- 3+ years of experience working in professional IT environments with strong communication responsibilities
- 2+ years of vendor/supplier management experience
- Advanced knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling
- Experience with cable pathways, racks, and IT power infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving racks, cabling, and power
- Experience supervising and validating vendor work against project requirements
- Working knowledge of data center critical facilities, including HVAC, UPS, generators, fire suppression, and physical security
- Working knowledge of servers, storage, and networking
- Experience with CMDB and ITIL processes
- Experience with IT infrastructure lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, and equipment decommissioning
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Education
One of the following is required:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field
- Associate's degree with 2+ years of professional IT experience
- 4+ years of equivalent IT experience
Nice-to-Have Experience & Certifications
- ServiceNow
- Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)
- BICSI certifications
- Fiber optic installation certifications
- Data center certifications such as CDCP or CDCS
- CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, or Security+
- ITIL certification
- Hot aisle containment systems
- Agile methodology
- Cloud infrastructure, including IaaS and PaaS
- Experience with AWS or Azure
