Pay: $22.00- $24.00 per hour DOE

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician to maintain, diagnose, and repair sanitation and waste collection vehicles. This role focuses on hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems to ensure fleet reliability, DOT compliance, and safe daily operations.

This position supports a dedicated sanitation fleet and offers the opportunity to become a permanent, long-term role for the right candidate. Attendance, safety, and quality workmanship are essential.


Key Responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance including oil changes, inspections, and safety checks.

  • Inspect diesel engines, suspension, steering, and brake systems.

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex hydraulic and electrical systems.

  • Identify issues with sanitation-specific equipment such as compactors, lift arms, and hydraulic controls.

  • Utilize diagnostic software and tools to accurately determine repair needs.

Repairs & Component Replacement

  • Repair or replace hydraulic cylinders, hoses, pumps, diesel engines, transmissions, and related components.

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to restore vehicles to safe operating condition.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all vehicles meet DOT and OSHA safety and compliance standards.

  • Maintain accurate service and inspection records.

  • Follow all safety procedures and policies; this is a safety-sensitive position.


Job Requirements (Required)

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty truck or diesel maintenance experience.

  • License: Valid CDL Class B required.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems

    • Electrical troubleshooting skills

    • Experience using diagnostic software and tools

  • Attendance: Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.


Work Environment

  • Hands-on shop and field work environment.

  • Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and use of tools.

  • Safety-focused workplace with strict adherence to procedures.
