Heavy Equipment Operator

3 TO 4 MONTH CONTRACT

Position Summary:

We are seeking skilled and safety-conscious Backhoe Operators and GPS Bulldozer Operators to join our construction team. These roles involve operating heavy equipment for site development, grading, excavation, trenching, and other related tasks with precision and efficiency. GPS Bulldozer Operators must have experience using grade control systems for fine grading and site prep.

Key Responsibilities:

Backhoe Operator:

• Operate backhoe to excavate, load, backfill, and grade earth or materials.
• Dig trenches for utilities, footings, and drainage systems.
• Inspect and maintain equipment, including fluid levels and mechanical components.
• Perform pre-op and post-op inspections of machinery.
• Safely navigate around underground utilities and confined job sites.

GPS Bulldozer Operator:

• Operate dozers with integrated GPS grade control systems (e.g., Trimble, Topcon, or Leica).
• Interpret and follow digital site plans for grading and earthmoving tasks.
• Perform rough and fine grading with high accuracy.
• Collaborate with surveyors and site supervisors to ensure plan adherence.
• Monitor GPS equipment for accuracy and troubleshoot as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction setting.
• Prior experience with GPS-controlled bulldozers (for dozer operators).
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus).
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, or operate equipment for long periods.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of site layout and grading plans.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Pay & work schedule:

• $41 per hour and $75 per diem
• Schedule is 5 ten hour days and 6 ten hour days
