Facility Maintenance Support Tech
The Skilled Facilities Laborer shall perform all job tasks including but not limited to – preventative maintenance, break-fix maintenance and emergency repair work. All work will be scheduled unless it is not possible due to demand/emergency repair needed.
The Skilled Facilities Laborer shall document findings, identify deficiencies, and report all corrective actions made in line of work.
* When workload permits, The Facilities Skilled Laborer will proactively assist other trades to support overall project progress and maintain efficient site operations.
- Tool/Equipment Operation: Using hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV): Use of PIV’s such as but not limited to forklifts, powered pallet jacks, and aerial lifts (scissor lifts, boom lifts.)
- Site Prep & Maintenance: Cleaning up, clearing debris, and preparing work areas.
- Structural Support: Digging trenches and pouring concrete.
- Material Handling: Loading, unloading, and transporting construction materials.
- Minor Maintenance: Inspection routes, cleaning equipment/areas, filter changes, water heater flushes, duct/vent cleaning, lubricating, etc.
- General Maintenance: Perform routine checks and minor repairs on building systems (light bulb changes, plumbing fixtures, doors, hardware).
- Carpentry: Assemble/disassemble furniture, repair drywall, install shelving, patch minor wood damage.
- Painting: Touch-up paint, minor wall/trim painting.
- Minor Plumbing: Fix leaky faucets, unclog drains, replace toilet flappers/handles.
- Groundskeeping Support: Assist with seasonal cleanups, debris removal, minor landscaping tasks as needed.
- Procurement: Contacts suppliers or manufacturers on part information, repair issues, improvement needs and shipping instructions.
- Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and repair issues using critical thinking and root cause analysis.
Requirements:
- Skilled laborer with 3+ years’ of multi-disciplined experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of general maintenance with many different stakeholders and provide work in compliance within customer satisfaction and site standards.
- Possession of current and valid State of Michigan driver license.
- High school diploma / GED
- Must be able to work at height, tight spaces, bend, twist, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50lbs.
- Work in various weather conditions for long periods.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures (above 90°F or below 32°F).
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Passing a drug test and background check is required.
