Pay: $26.00-$29.00 per hour DOE
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid state certification for wastewater treatment Grade 1 or higher.
• Minimum of three years’ experience operating wastewater treatment facilities.
• Demonstrated advanced operational skills and sound judgment.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
• 3–5 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations.
• Knowledge of treatment plant principles, equipment (valves, pumps, motors), and laboratory testing methods.
• Understanding of industrial waste impacts on treatment processes.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CMMS, and data management systems.
• Experience operating PLCs and SCADA systems.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to environmental elements. Conditions may include loud noise, moving machinery, high-pressure systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and pathogens. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
Physical demands include:
• Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, twist, kneel, squat, and reach overhead.
• Manual dexterity for equipment handling and fine motor tasks.
• Adequate vision and hearing (with or without correction).
• Ability to move throughout the facility during an 8-hour shift.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds, ascend/descend stairs, and operate push-type mowers.
• Consistent use of appropriate safety gear.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues; implement corrective actions during assigned shifts.
• Perform preventive maintenance on plant systems to ensure reliability and efficiency of utility distribution and treatment processes.
• Monitor and operate equipment including gauges, meters, valves, pumps, and motors; adjust chemical dosages and flow rates as needed.
• Operate and monitor PLCs and SCADA systems for process control.
• Ensure compliance with company and project policies and procedures; report any deviations.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, rounds, lab records and prepare required reports.
• Utilize and update the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to optimize maintenance activities and documentation.
• Collect samples and conduct routine laboratory tests on influent, effluent, biosolids, and industrial discharges.
• Manage biosolids processing, hauling, and application in accordance with schedules and regulations.
• Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and process control discussions.
• Make operational decisions in the absence of supervisory staff.
• Communicate operational needs and changes to supervisors to maintain safe and efficient operations.
• Uphold discipline and ensure adherence to established procedures.
• Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
