Aerospace and Defense Technical is hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
The EHS Specialist serves as liaison between all EH&S functions and line managers.
Management of all EH&S programs and issues to ensure the protection of employees from industrial accidents, occupational and environmental health hazards, and fire.
Design, development, interpretation, recommendation, and compliance with environmental regulations and/or company policy in conjunction with one or more of the following areas: Workers Compensation, Occupational Health & Safety, Medical Assistance or Environmental Engineering.
Conducts site safety inspections and daily walk-throughs.
Leads safety meeting
Trains new hires on safety and environmental issues.
May provide development for the company in EHS training programs.
Assist the Business Unit with Conducting the Job Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment
Conducts fire safety inspections and provides fire safety training.
Evaluate and recommend PPE for various Business Unit
Ensures that safety and environmental rules and regulations are adhered to.
May ensure standards and controls, and policies and procedures are identified for regulation compliance.
May coordinate with government agencies for arbitrations, inspections, regulations, etc.
Advises managers regarding safety compliance and environmental issues.
Incorporates and maintains safety observances by working with Business Unit Leaders
Conduct accident investigation and assist with evaluating corrective and preventive action s
Review KPIs and analyze opportunities for improvement
Conduct employee or area monitoring following industrial hygiene practices and policies
Assist Human Resources with management of workers’ compensation claims.
Performs other duties as assigned
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree or CSP designation preferred with course work in chemistry, biology, math, or related field.
3 – 5 years’ experience in an industrial or plant facility.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
Ability to identify hazards and unsafe work practices.
Ability to train employees on issues relating to safety and to troubleshoot safety concerns.
Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
