Job Description
Process Chemical/Mechanical Engineer – Contract-to-Hire
Pay: $40.87-- $62.50 per hour DOE
Location: Boise, ID (Primarily remote; onsite 50% first month, then ~1 week/month)
Overview
We are seeking a Process Chemical/Mechanical Engineer to support complex industrial facilities projects. The successful candidate will act as the owner’s representative, reviewing designs, specifications, and drawings, providing feedback, and supporting construction and tool integration. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity.
You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful delivery of chemical and mechanical systems, including piping for water, wastewater, process chemicals, and gases, as well as supporting the installation of advanced manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Review and provide feedback on design packages, P&IDs, layouts, equipment plans, and construction documents
Support multi-discipline design team as the process chemical/mechanical representative
Review vendor submittals, RFIs, and construction documents
Oversee design for piping, chemical distribution, gas distribution, process utilities, pumps, tanks, and related facilities systems
Support retrofit or new installation of mechanical systems, including calculations, sizing, specification, and integration
Conduct field visits, inspections, and construction support as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Minimum 2 years of chemical/mechanical facilities engineering experience, including process piping, chemical/gas distribution, pumps, tanks, and related systems
Minimum 2 years of design project delivery experience
Strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills
Leadership experience, ability to prioritize, and work effectively in teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Valid state driver’s license
Ability to work onsite as required
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year experience with semiconductor manufacturing tools in cleanroom environments
AutoCAD proficiency
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Forward-thinking, innovative, and eager to learn best practices
1 year of field experience
EIT or PE license
Physical Requirements
Field visits at active construction sites, including walking long distances, standing/sitting for extended periods, bending, climbing ladders, catwalks, working in small spaces
Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs
