Engineering Assistant – Piping Discipline (Remote)
Job Description
Assist the piping engineering and design leads and their project teams with administrative engineering tasks, including maintaining piping design deliverable and issuance schedules, tracking design review sign-offs, reviewing design package checklists, and supporting onboarding/offboarding of design staff. You'll be responsible for document control at the piping discipline level across multiple projects, interfacing with engineering discipline leads, project-level document control, and the design automation group. This is a remote position. No visa sponsorship available.
Pay: $27.00- $32.00 per hour DOE
Responsibilities:
- Maintain piping design deliverable and issuance schedules
- Track design review sign-offs and review design package checklists for completion
- Support onboarding and offboarding of design staff to the project team
- Take meeting notes at discipline organizational meetings
- Maintain revision control of discipline tools (equipment lists, calculations, schedules)
- Coordinate with the project document control team for submission of package supporting documents and checklists
- Track design changes
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to share data
- Understand and apply company and client safety standards across all work activities
- Collaborate with project task force members, client personnel, and department teams to support coordination and timely delivery
- Establish and maintain professional working relationships with key client and project stakeholders
- Meet commitments to the design team by completing work on schedule and within agreed effort hours, communicating risks or delays early
- Identify opportunities to improve coordination, reduce schedule impacts, and streamline work processes
- Track piping deliverable status across projects, including models, drawings, and support-related deliverables
- Support issuance planning and coordination for piping deliverables (IFR, IFC, etc.)
- Assist in maintaining piping progress tracking tools, logs, and reporting dashboards
- Coordinate information flow between piping, other engineering disciplines, and project management teams
- Support communication of priorities, deliverable status, and key updates within and outside the piping group
Required:
- 2-year technical degree or 4-year non-technical degree
- 3–5 years of demonstrated experience supporting engineering or project delivery environments
- Knowledge of document control processes
- Knowledge and application of engineering design and document standards
- Familiarity with project delivery methods typical for Architectural/Engineering lead designs
- Ability to organize data
- Excellent communication skills
- Project, engineering, or document control background supporting technical projects
- Knowledge and understanding of work/information flow between disciplines
- Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements to produce deliverables
- Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote
- Good listening, writing, and communication skills
- Good presentation skills
