Job Description

HKA is working on behalf of Jacobs and this role is to support Jacobs’ work through HKA.

Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate the ability to work safely and identify hazards in and around the work area.
• Diagnoses electrical/mechanical problems and performs necessary corrective action during work shifts.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on Central Utility Plant, Common Areas, and Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant systems to ensure the integrity and reliability of the utility distribution and/or treatment systems.
• Providing effective and timely customer service to clients and team members.
• Performing journey level electrical work and locating and diagnosing trouble in electrical systems or components.
• Installation and removal of electrical conductors, equipment, and raceways; signaling and communications conductors, equipment, and raceways.
• Installing, maintaining, and repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, HVAC units, lighting systems, or other transmission equipment.
• Follow detailed switching procedure sequences and power outage coordination, involving different kinds of Medium Voltage Switchgear, 15 KV circuit breakers.
• Troubleshoot and repair motors, motor controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), instrumentation wiring, ladder logic diagrams.
• Prepare and deliver job service reports, deficiency reports, and properly complete work orders. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
• Performs other duties as required by the Supervisor.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an apprenticeship program in the electrician trade or 3 years equivalent experience in an industrial setting.
• Three years of experience in either of the following:
• Basic journey level skills, knowledge and abilities in the electrician trade including proficiency in the use of all hand and power tools of the trade.
• Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical troubles and make repairs on equipment.
• Must be able to read/understand technical diagrams and drawings and be knowledgeable about the local codes and regulations, as well as all NFPA requirements.
• Understanding of, and willingness to comply with, electrical and work safety procedures including NFPA 70E, National Electrical Code & OSHA Standards.
• Ability to complete standard calculations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
• Must be able to identify and enter confined spaces, be physically capable of bending for long periods of time, climbing ladders, work in confined spaces, lift 50 lbs.
• Must possess knowledge and ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, platform, and aerial boom lifts.
• Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license, a good driving record and the ability to operate automatic transmission vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience working with voltages higher than 1000 volts.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70E & 70B
• Thorough understanding of Lock Out – Tag Out procedures and best practices.
• Ability to plan and install all types of electrical components, and conduit runs in compliance with NEC.
• Time management skills; must be able to perform independently and finish tasks within the allotted time frame.
• Troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform fundamental tasks on a computer using Microsoft Office: including a majority or all of the following:
• understanding the basic notions of computer manipulation.
• managing computer files.
• word processing,
• using spreadsheets and databases.
• creating presentations.
• finding information and communicating.
