Electrical Design Engineer III – Nuclear

Pay: $73.00- $83.00 per hour DOE

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer III – Nuclear to support complex engineering projects within nuclear and nuclear-qualified facilities. In this senior-level role, you will apply advanced electrical engineering principles to solve complex design challenges with limited supervision. You will work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality electrical design solutions that support safe, compliant, and reliable operations.
This position is ideal for an engineer with 10+ years of discipline experience who is ready to take on increased technical responsibility and contribute to projects of growing complexity.
Key Responsibilities
Perform electrical system design and analysis for nuclear and nuclear-qualified facilities
Develop and review electrical design packages, including drawings, calculations, and specifications
Solve complex engineering problems independently and provide technical recommendations
Ensure compliance with applicable nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (IEEE, NEC, NFPA, NRC, etc.)
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project management, and operations
Support design modifications, upgrades, and system improvements
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering or electrical design experience
Experience supporting nuclear facilities or nuclear-related projects
Strong understanding of electrical power, control, and/or instrumentation systems
Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in commercial nuclear power or DOE nuclear facilities
Familiarity with plant modification processes and design change control
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience working in highly regulated environments
