Water Operator

HKA is working on behalf of Jacobs and this role is to support Jacobs’ work through HKA

Qualifications:

Operates, performs minor repairs, and maintains the water treatment plant facility, and diagnoses operating problems and performs necessary corrective action .

Basic Qualifications

• Possess a valid driver’s license

• Level II certification in Water

• A minimum two year of experience in operating water treatment plants

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic familiarity of the principles and practices of water treatment plant operations, operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors, principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical water analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in water treatment processes, principles of supervision and training, and safe work practices

• Ability to respond to pages in a timely manner as requested by management.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs any combinations of tasks pertinent to controlling operations of the water treatment plant

• Operates pumps, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and processing of water, sludge, and effluent

• Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels

• Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings

• Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control

• Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings

• Takes samples and performs laboratory tests and analyses

• Performs routine mainte¬nance functions and custodial duties

• Makes operating decisions in the absence of supervisory personnel

• Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures

• Follows written and oral instructions

• Ability to respond to pages in a timely manner as requested by management.

• Performs other duties as assigned
