Job Description

HKA is working on behalf of Jacobs and this role is to support Jacobs’ work through HKA.

  • Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and calibration of equipment, instruments, processes and support systems for the Domestic and International Central Utility Plants at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. 
  • Demonstrates skill at monitoring systems, controls and equipment by adjusting controls, valves, pumps and other equipment manually or through BMS controls to regulate operations of the Domestic and International Central Utility Plants. 
  • Maintains operational records of any observed variations in operating conditions and records and interprets system, gauge and meter performance readings as needed. 
  • Able to assess conditions of plant assets, identify and scope the maintenance and repairs needed; work with the Facility Coordinator/Buyer to secure parts and materials; and then complete the necessary corrective and preventive maintenance work on these assets. 
  • Able to read electrical and mechanical schematics according to diagrams and read specialty precision tools. 
  • Demonstrates skill at utilizing data management tools for system and process controls, such as computer spreadsheets or other data management programs. 
  • Completes assigned work orders for the reactive, corrective, and preventative maintenance, as well as the repairs, to utility plant equipment (boilers, chillers, pumps, valves, compressors, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to work independently, as well as on teams to manage utility plant maintenance and repair projects competently and safely, as well as plant operations as needed.
  • Able to demonstrate basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); 
  • Able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Able to follow all AAT Project safety requirements to support Beyond Zero safety goals that promote continuous improvements in safety culture at our project. 
  • Able to use lifts and ladders in the performance of your assignments, which may also be completed in a variety of weather conditions; and 
  • Able to work a compressed or extended schedule, which may apply during extreme weather events or irregular operations.


Job Requirements


  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience with industrial or central utility plant operations and maintenance techniques and related equipment required.
  •  Ability to monitor MetasysBMS
  •  Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics according to diagrams.
  •  Ability to read specialized precision tools such as meter, gauges, chemical-mixing, and dye-injecting equipment, etc.
  • High School degree or GED
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License with no major infractions Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum three (5) years’ experience with industrial or central utility plant operations and maintenance techniques and related equipment required.
  • Georgia State Association of Power Engineers License
  • Military or maritime training program in the operation and maintenance of centrifugal, rotary, and screw-type pumps preferred.
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Department refrigeration machines operator’s license preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited trade school, apprentice training program or equivalent required
  • Basic electrical course preferred.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License with no major infractions
