Waterworks Industrial Mechanic

The Mechanic performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance of a water/waste water treatment plant including maintenance of equipment, quality control/testing and day-to-day activities on an assigned shift.
Operates heavy equipment, not limited to: backhoe, skid steer, forklift, floor scrubber, scissors lift, vacuum and vacall trucks, dump trucks, etc., in a safe manner during the project’s operations and maintenance activities.
Assist in cleaning and video inspecting the housing sewer laterals with a hydro jet cleaning equipment and video camera equipment.
Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures; familiar with confined space entry, traffic safety and control, hazardous communication.
Assists in cleaning the sludge drying beds. Load, unload, haul biosolids to the local landfill.
Assists in repairing water line breaks and clogged sewer laterals/mains.
Inspect, repair, maintain free flowing conditions in sewer lines, drains. If appropriate adjust manholes; patch streets and sidewalks; and erect and repair fences.
Inspect, clean and perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance, servicing and care of equipment, vehicles, tools, pumps and other mobile and stationary equipment.
Uses materials, supplies and hand or power tools.
Maintains records and logs of work activities.
Performs other duties as required.
High school diploma or GED
Possess a valid CDL class A in CA with tank endorsement.
Able to obtain a Grade II water distribution operator certification in California within two years of hire.
Sewer Collection System Operator Grade I issued by CWEA preferred
