Sheet Metal Tech
DOE Anchorage, AK 99518
This position is located on the North Slope and requires a non-standard rotational work schedule, 4 or 6 weeks on.
Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided, however, transportation between Anchorage and the North Slope is provided. Room and meals are provided while on the Slope.
Transportation to Anchorage or lodging while in Anchorage for training is not provided.
The Sheet Metal Tech determines project tool requirements, assembly sequences, and required methods and materials, according to blueprints, drawings, and written or verbal instructions
Fabricates, assembles, installs and repairs sheet metal products such as Ductwork, HVAC equipment, and architectural panels
Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, bending rolls and punch and drill presses to cut, bend and straighten sheet metal
Fastens seams and joints together with bolts, cement, rivets, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items
Installs and inspects individual parts, assemblies, and installations for conformance to specifications and codes, using measuring instruments lays out, measures, and marks dimensions and reference lines on material
Trims, deburrs and smooths surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge of fabrication, assembly, handling, installation, dismantling, adjustment, alteration and repair of sheet metal and fabricated ductwork.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the industrial construction or repair of mechanical ductwork.
