The Senior Technical Writer will be a member of Rotary and Mission Systems, Technical Publications team supporting the CH-53K Helicopter Program Technical Manual Development.
Will manage, direct, and QA the writing/offload effort of technical manual and technical directive projects. T
Acts as subject matter expert for projects in Avionics, Electrical, Airframe, Powerplant, Fuel, Powertrain, and Flight controls.
Manages offload to suppliers observing performance and quality of publications, referring to technical specifications and engineering documentation.
Manages the preparation of text, line art, wiring diagrams and charts verifying they conform to specifications.
Conducts quality review of materials.
The position requires contact with customers.
Possible travel to customers facilities to perform validations and verifications on technical manuals and directives with customer, attend program reviews and technical interchange meetings, etc. with customer.
Tracks quality metrics of all deliverables using Authorized Technical Review process.
Manages development of deliverables to support Product Safety, Engineering, ILS managers, and commercial operator support.
Manage outsourcing of work.
Manage delivery schedule.
Work with internal and external suppliers to ensure quality of final documents.
5+ years of professional experience with a related Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Associate's degree, with 10+ years of professional experience.
Must be a US Citizen.
Must possess technical experience ideally in the helicopter or aerospace industry, with a minimum of 5 years of proven skills/experience
Must have a working knowledge of MIL-STD style guides.
Ability to write technical content for maintenance technical manuals including installation, test, repair, IPB and troubleshooting procedures.
Must have experience using Arbortext Editor or equivalent.
Working Knowledge of S1000D Electronic Technical Manual Development preferred.
Working knowledge of Content Management Systems such as SDL Content@, SDL XYVision, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional preferred.
A&P license or military experience is desired, experience in Logistics/Aircraft maintenance preferred.
Experience with tracking status for multiple projects.
Experience with contributing to the development of Basis of Estimates (BOEs) within the discipline of Technical Publications.
Experience with all writing for all levels of maintenance on Rotory Aircraft.
