Project General Superintendent
Farmington, NM 87401
The Project General Superintendent will be working on WATER projects, and will be responsible for the scheduling, coordinating and supervision of the all work activities both self-performed and those performed with subcontractors engaged in the construction activities for water and wastewater treatments plants.
Promote and enforce craft and subcontractors compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
Mentor and coach superintendents as it relates to company policies and procedures and work requirements
Conduct and/or direct project safety meetings
Supervise foremen assigned to area of responsibility and provide liaison between field engineering, estimating, and crafts to ensure compliance of construction with drawings and specifications
Plan, direct and supervise subcontractors on a daily basis. Activities include planning, organizing, directing and controlling methods of construction, manpower levels, material quantities equipment, work schedule and reviewing documentations
Inspect work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used. May coordinate with equipment superintendent to insure constant flow of materials
Assist in jobsite setup
Resolve construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) ensuring project runs on schedule
Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) and directly report to Project Manager to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules where required
Ensure workers for each task are fully qualified to perform assigned duties
Jobsite responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervision of the actual physical construction of the project in strict accordance with the contract documents;
Verification of safety compliance with all trades and subcontractors, shutdowns and tie-ins; enforcement of safety and quality-control policies;
Direction and day-to-day coordination of trade contractors – and their sub-contractors when required – to ensure they turn out high-quality work that meets project schedule;
Maintenance of satisfactory relationships with owners, subcontractors and the ability to work in a team environment with other Project Managers, Engineers and Superintendents.
Assign tasks to superintendents to ensure efficient, appropriate personnel usage while assisting superintendents in trouble-shooting of day-to-day problems.
Take charge and exercise leadership and judgment in changing situations.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Review Subcontract Schedule of Values.
Review draft subcontractor applications for payment and adjust as required.
Review third party testing agency reports for compliance and conformance
Assist and manage superintendents and sub-contractors with the coordination of State/Local building and trade inspections
Develop a site logistics and strategic plans, coordinate and maintain the continuity of all superintendent functions.
High school diploma or GED required
10-15 years of experience on construction projects in a superintendent role.
Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of the management of site logistics and contract operations for water projects both greenfield and brownfield alike.
Strong Water/Waste Water treatment facility construction project experience
Knowledge of Timberline, Microsoft Excel and Word required.
Must be construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction.
Must have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
Strong technical and communication skills are critical.
Expert knowledge of tool & equipment safety
Leadership qualities in project safety implementations
OSHA 10-Hour qualifications
Must be willing to travel or relocate to the project pending the project requirements.
Relocation, if required, will be paid for by the company
Travel, if required, will be done with either an allowance or TDA pending project requirements at the cost of the company.
Driving while on travel, or in a company provided vehicle, will be required therefore a driving record review would be required.
