Journeyman Electrician (AK licensed)
DOE Anchorage, AK 99518
This position is located on the North Slope and requires a non-standard rotational work schedule, 4 or 6 weeks on.
Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided, however, transportation between Anchorage and the North Slope is provided. Room and meals are provided while on the Slope.
Transportation to Anchorage or lodging while in Anchorage for training is not provided.
The Electrician is responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and construction of industrial electrical equipment and systems found in industrial, or commercial, environments, through the proper use of standard wire, MC-HL cable, conduit, fittings, and hardware commonly found in industrial plants.
Reads and understands wiring schematics, design drawings, and specifications
Responsible for use and care of the tools and equipment such as; hydraulic/electric conduit benders, threading machines, knockout punch sets, cable pullers, meggers, hi-pot equipment, volt meters, mutli-meters, and ammeters.
Set and secure electrical distribution equipment including switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, power panels, and instrument and control boxes.
Install power, control, and instrumentation circuits ranging from 24V DC up to 13.8KV.
Bend, cut, thread, and install conduit
Cut, support, and install cable tray -Install and terminate wiring
Check out and troubleshoot electrical circuits, and electrical devices and machinery
Accountable for testing, troubleshooting, installing power distribution and motor control circuits
High school diploma or GED
Possess current Alaska State Journeyman Electrician license
Possess understanding of electrical circuits and components, including the operation and function of typical electrical devices and machinery, such as; solenoids, relays, motors, transformers, switches, motor control centers, generators, batteries, and lighting systems
Possess an excellent knowledge of the National Electric Code
Have adequate written and oral communications applicable to standards set by organization
